Fundraising for 3rd Farnham Scout Group
Fundraising events
We hold a variety of events during the year. In addition to supplying delicious cakes for the various tea tents, all families are strongly encouraged to volunteer at a minimum of three events per year.
Why get involved?
- Our modest subscription fees of £30 per term contribute a fraction of what it costs to maintain the Scout Group. Insurance costs alone for Daniel Hall are £2K per year.
- It is good for us as a group and Scouting as a whole to have a strong profile in the community.
- All children and leaders in the group promise to "do a good turn every day". It is important that you, as parents, model this Scouting ethos so your children can follow more easily.
- It's fun! We at 3rd Farnham are a friendly bunch, and Scouting is so much more than a club that you send your child to once a week; it's a friendly, supportive community so come and join us!
Farmers Market
We have a tea tent at Farnham Farmers Market once a year. We require volunteers to do a two hour stint serving customers with refreshments.
Music in the Park
Again, we have a tea tent here and again we need a two hour stint serving customers.
Farnham Charity Bike Ride
There's a theme... tea tent, customers... We also need a couple of marshals for this one.
Bonfire night
We need marshal for the torchlit procession. In addition to the group receiving £10 per marshal you will also get free entry to the fireworks for your family.
Rural Life Centre
They hold an event once a year and we manage the car parking as well as run a tea tent.
Christmas Parking
The UCA kindly lets us use their staff car park for Christmas shoppers to park in on the two Saturdays in the run-up to Christmas. Need parking attendants and bucket bearers for donations.
Testimonials
"You can always be sure of a laugh and to meet some like-minded people at the 3rd fundraisers. Plus the children gain confidence in dealing with the public and you get to do something fun and worthwhile with your child. I'm always amazed and inspired by how generous people are and the wealth of good feeling towards the Scout movement."

"When we were asked to help the SCVC Classic Vehicle Gathering at the rural life centre, I was asked if I could gather volunteers to help. We had a fantastic first year everyone enjoyed directing the traffic (about 600 classic cars) and as a bonus all the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were able to take their entire family into the Rural life centre for FREE just by helping for an hour or two and wearing their uniform. Since then we have also increased funds by running a tea tent. This has become a big fundraiser for 3rds, not only do we shake a bucket (the Beavers particularly love this) but the SCVC also give us a donation too. Importantly the SCVC were so pleased as it meant they could concentrate on the main event. So that's one good turn done for all who take part!"

"I particularly enjoy helping out with the various tea tents our Scout Group run during the year. I love baking so that helps and I am always staggered at the wonderful array of tempting goodies other people in the group make as well. Most recently we were at the Farnham Charity Bike Ride. The atmosphere was incredible as the cyclists were finishing their rides and it was great congratulating them on their achievements whilst serving them some well-deserved restoration! You always see someone you know from around town to have a natter with and the children love helping too which is a delight!"
